ROYAL SOCIETY: Equality VS Equity

Writer: Megan SaloleMegan Salole

Updated: Oct 7, 2020

You’d be forgiven for not being able to easily communicate the essential differences between these two concepts. In 2012, this image did the rounds of the internet which showed different distribution of resources creates equitable and fair outcomes, whereas equal distribution may be fair, the outcomes are not.

The Royal Society commissioned me to create a version with a local flavour. Same principles and elements (kudos to the creator of the original - Craig Froehlr) with a fresh local feel.

I also created an image to provoke some deeper thinking around the fairness of allocation of resources in our health system in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
